Primitive Folk Art Hooked Wool Rug ~ The Great Black Whale

This great black whale rug measures 58 1/2" x 37 1/2". I designed and hooked this rug using all hand dyed wool.

A combination of night sky and antique black hand dyed wool was used for the whale. I used Dutch blue for the sea and a fantastic mix of muted baby blues for the sky. The ships sails were hooked with my favorite clam shell color.

This great black whale rug was a true labor of love and so much fun to hook. The background is linen. All wools were hand dyed by myself in my New England home studio.

A true primitive piece of folk art that you can display year round.
